I had stayed home for the day(kind of played hooky a bit but I DID have a sore throat)...and its a good thing I did... I came upstairs and could hear a funny odd sounding bird - when I got to the top of the stairs I realized it was Akeema and she appeared to be laying on her side on her perch..OMG OMG OMG I go running to find out whats wrong and realize once I get to her that she is stuck inside the toy and has one toe of her left foot caught and the other foot holding on for dear life on the perch(thats why she appeared to be on her side).
You can see where the rope is inside that link - it should be wedged tightly - its not - thats where her toe was caught up in...I was able to get her unstuck but not without alot of growling/screaming and yes..even a nip..but once she was out and the offending toy removed she turned into a hugeeeee suck..
I cut the rope piece out and replaced the toy as its one of her favorites..just a reminder to everyone..
Double check ALL toys before you buy them - I checked this one to make sure noones head would get stuck etc and the rope "appeared" safe enough - that could have ended with tragic results - I myself have to more diligent as the toys I make for my birds will be sold to other people and there is NO room for error... I belive this toy was purchased at our local Wal-Mart - will be there tomorrow and will double check...
