Hello everyone! My GCC, Watson, hates cuttle bones...I have tried different sizes, shapes, flavors, you name it - he ignores them! If I hold the cuttle bone in my hand and encourage him to bite it, he will, but only does it for a few seconds. Is this normal for GCC's? Is there anything else that I can try that will help with his beak? He really loves when I lightly scratch his beak with my fingernail and will fall asleep with me doing that. I do give him a variety of food and fruit bark but really wish he liked cuttle bones! Let me know of any suggestions!

I've never offered Mo cuttlebones. I've bought him a couple of different types of perches for his claws and beak that he seems to love. One is called a "safety perch"...it has sandy/grainy sides but is smooth on top so it doesn't hurt his feet. The other is a calcium perch...he likes to chew on it and it comes in different colors and flavors. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much Linda! Watson does have a couple safety perches that he loves and they help keep his nails trim. I will definitely have to try the flavored calcium perches...I appreciate the suggestion! Diane

Scooter will chew on his cuttlebone, but he prefers rattling it against the cage bars. If there is plenty of calcium in the diet a cuttlebone isn't strictly necessary.
