Hey Everyone ! So i am planning on adding another parrot later on, right now i just plan on saving up, and getting everything together, I do want a larger parrot this time Anyway's my choice's right now is another Conure, but probably right now a Jardine Parrot, or an African Grey. When i was first going to get a parrot, i was going to be getting an African grey, and I really would love one lol, after all that is what got me motivated in the first place to get a parrot. Next is a Jardine Parrot, and i fell inlove with a small weanling at a petstore, last year and me and him instantly clicked, he is no longer there but he is the reason why i had given the breed some thought, the second day i went to see him he ended up regurgitating for me lol. Cost for me isn't much of an issue, i am willing to save up the money, but these are two breed's that i am insanely head over heel's for lol. My first goal was to save up for my Congo grey, i already have a breeder in mind, but i happen to have just thought of Jardine Parrot's again... they are great little parrots and so... what do you think ? I might end up changing my mind down the road, but i am a pretty stubborn person when it comes to making up my mind, once i make up my mind it kind of is stuck there

Do you mean a Jardine Parrot or a Jenday Conure? I almost fell in love with a Jardine at the pet store (a local bird oriented store) and wanted to call him Buckbeak. But we weren't quite ready for a bird yet. They look like this: . I've seen Jendays at the stores as well, they are very colorful and remind me of Sun Conures. I think they tend to be MUCH louder than Green Cheeks!

Hailey is my 5 year old CAG. She is a rehome. We found her as a rescue at a Grey breeder. She had been rehomed several times and was only about 6 months old. She was plucked, groomed wrong- wings clipped too soon and nails so short that she couldn't grip properly. So it took a year for her to warm to me. She was devoted to my oldest son until last month when he moved out. He did it gradually so she would not be stressed.
So now she has devoted herself to my husband. She follows him around worse than a dog. But she is more timid than the conures. More emotionally insecure? She is more standoffish. I am not allowed to cuddle her as I do the conures. But am allowed to kiss her beak, play catch the toesies. She does talk some, and is a great mimiker. Hangs up the phone or drops calls alot.
But would I get another Grey? No, I love the cuddly type birds. I think I would stay with my Conures. But I also know that she has a reason to be that way and I love her dearly and will always be her Grammie.
I have heard alot of good about Jardines, that they are good talkers, and not a loud bird.
Let us know what you decide! And good luck.

Thank's Kim Maybe you are right about her being alittle standoffish because she was a rehome several times, but i am happy that she is in a great home !

She is now. Just got a new cage last August. Really love it, EZ Cage. We are in the process of gathering info to make a safe screened porch/aviary so she can go out side this summer and be closer to her "daddy" though she could care less about being closer to me unless we are alone.

I will when we figure it out. Frank wants to go with something small and buy later from CornersUnlimited, but I don't think he knows how much $ that would be. Even if they are based in our state.
