Yes Indigo is pretty old.. he is 19. But he was also skinny as a pole, and now he has a huge hay belly, I rescued him from Slaughter.... and now we have the weight we just need the muscle

A coworker has a beautiful Paint mare that she rescued from slaughter too. She uses her for barrels now. After having to put on about 250 pounds. Poor horses. I had my Nyala from 8 months old until she died.
Now do you breed the bulldogs? We have several come into my clinic. One is a treat to work with, one we just go very slow (I have never seen a head as big as his!) and the other clients are just a trip to work with. Even though I hate doggie kisses. lol

I am sorry to hear about you're Nyala, and Congrat's to you're coworker Nothing is more rewarding. We don't breed the dog's, Atilla has just gotten neutered last year, and Beuford(my dog) will be getting fixed, and so will Cinco.. Cinco did have an accidental litter once.. They are really fun to work with I agree lol, Couldn't ask for a better dog, although they require abit more training

My best friend has an American Bulldog named Maverick. He's a hoot! If you ask him, "Who's your daddy?" He'll answer you with this hilarious howl like bark. I also taught him to be bashful. You ask, "Who's bashful?", and he'll drop his head, put his paw over his face and look bashful...it's so stinkin' cute! I'll have to get a pick of him next time I see them.

why are the dogs chained up?

I'm guessing that if they don't have a fenced yard, then they need to be chained. Some dogs won't stay in a specific area. I know it varies from place to place, state to state and county to county, but dogs need to be confined to a fenced yard or a chain. Otherwise they are a "dog at large". They could get hit by a car. An American Bull Dog is not a small animal. And, even though I have no problems with bully breeds, a lot of people do. I could see someone mistaking them for Pitbulls. Other things could happen including the dog being poisoned or even shot if on someone elses property, and all they have to say is, "I thought it was a pitbull and I was afraid it would hurt someone...so I killed it." Also, dogs may be well trained and friendly while with the owner, but it could be a whole different story if they are running around loose... I doubt these dogs are vicious or mean...it's probably more for their safety.

Yes, We were living in a town, and Atilla sometimes like's to leave the yard, so we require that he has a chain on him, when they have to goto the bathroom. It is for their safety even if they are very friendly. The only time they are on it is when they have to use the bathroom, other wise our dog's are inside.
Now that we live in the country, we can have them off leash while we are outside, but atilla has to stay on one, because he likes to wander. Especially since we live on a highway, so truthfully it is in short, for their safety. I would also like to add that, photo of atilla is specifically old, we do not use a chain but a rope instead.
