HI everyone! I recently purchased two new toys my GCC Watson from Insight Activitoys. I attached pictures of the the two toys I purchased but he took apart the toys within an hour and I happened to be home and heard him making a funny noise. When I approached his cage, I saw that he had one of the round metal pieces that dangles the toy accessories stuck around the bottom of the beak...almost like he had a pierced hoop. He was starting to panic and kept sticking out his tongue and the small hoop was stuck really bad so he couldn't close his mouth. Luckily we were able to carefully remove it but it took some time and two people. I am so thankful I was home or he could have choked or gotten injured worse. I will no longer be purchasing any toys that have dangled metal hoops like these two. I just wanted to let all of you know because so many bird toys have dangles like this but I am sure your birds are as curious as mine and after a while will figure a way to unhook the toys dangling and could get hurt.

I'm glad you were home to help him! Poor birdie! I won't buy anything with small metal hoops or chains for that reason. I usually buy things meant for the larger birds. That way I know he can't take it apart. GCC are too curious for their own good and always want to see how well things are put together. Again, I'm glad Watson is ok :-)

I think those toys were designed for smaller birds... I find that when it comes to toys that are meant to be destroyed, Scooter prefers smaller/softer ones. But when it comes to acrylic or plastic toys, I usually go with those designed more for medium-sized birds. I have had toys from that brand which are designed for bigger birds (they don't have a budgie on the label, but I don't remember exactly what it looks like) and those have worked out fine. Remember, GCCs are not really bigger than a 'tiel, but they do have a much bigger beak.

That was my first time buying that type of a toy and I should have known how curious GCC's are. All his other toys are bigger and not metal or links. His favorites are the ones he gets to destroy and that I stuff treats in;)
