I saw this topic kind of being started in another thread, and thought I would start it up as i'm curious to hear what everyone has to say. Nos is bonded to me but enjoys time with my boyfriend too- although Nos does poop on Bert (my boyfriend) ALOT! My mom is terrified of Nos and refuses to touch him- she is scared of him biting her and well, i don't blame her. My dad won't hold Nos and even had a dream the other night that Nos was attacking him. Other relatives have tried to hold him but after Nos drew blood from my grandmothers hand, i was nervous of introducing him to new people again. What's the best way to socialize him with other's?My parents aren't really interested but i know it's important for him to be able to tolerate other people. Any thoughts?

Hm, well for me.. Cinder isn't to socialized, he is in my room and like you're family... my dad and brother are afraid of him biting him, and they always have a fuss when he bites... so i have to go in a rescue them lol and take him off their hands. Cinder does like flying to other people, but they get really scared of his closeness ( he is a shoulder bird LOL, and that is his favorite spot ever and when i try to keep him off he runs away or jumps over my hand) Anyway's i would just suggest, having him around friends, or just him hanging out around you and you're family, or friends. But not on you guy's, just let him hang out on his own area... that way he see's people. Just start slowly really.

It may help to stick train Nos. Friends and family may be more open to "holding" the bird if he is on a perch and not on their hands where he can bite them.

Good news folks! My cousins (aged 10 and 15) came to visit last night. As they are young, and not too scared of anything- i plonked Nos on each of their shoulders at different points during the evening. Success! No biting and (for the most part), it was an achievment all round. Shame, poor Nos was looking longingly at me and bobbing like a maniac and eventually i did rescue the poor fellow. But he was brave, even nesting in my cousins hair at one point. Hurrah! My Nos is not an antisocial lil blighter after all. Just a mommys boy!!
