So i have noticed alot of people using Clickers for trick training their parrots/birds. What is you'r views on Clicker training ? Do you use a Clicker ? Do you find it beneficial? Anything else to add would be awesome !

Have not tried this with my parrot, but I have used a little clicker training with my horse. With the horse I found it was very useful to teach tolerance of less-than-comfortable procedures (mane-pulling) but horses are easier to teach behaviors with negative reinforcement. Horses are also not verbally oriented, so it's harder to get them to accept a "Good boy!" as a genuine reward, so bridging with a clicker gives a clear message. Timing, however, is very important -- I think the demands on the trainer are fairly high. With the horse, once he was tolerating mane pulling well, I decided to get clever and teach him to lower his head while I was pulling -- instead I accidentally taught him to bob it up and down, which wasn't very helpful!!!
I can see where it might be a good thing with the birds... you can really pinpoint a desired behavior. OTOH, they do seem to respond to verbal praise readily. At least, so far Scooter seems to.
