Hello I would like to introduce myself, I am Evy and I have a sweet diabolicile green cheek conure named Pepper. And because I have never been in a forum before I am going to ask my question here. Pepper we are starting to believe is a young lady, and we believe this from some of her actions recently, but the strangest one she is doing is trying to overtake our Cockatiels nesting box with the eggs in it. She is a terror, she wont leave the Mom and Dad alone until they are out of the box and she can come and go as she wants, and then she still chases them around the room, until I take her back to her room. Has anyone else ever seen this type of behaviour from a GCC before, or does anyone have any idea why she would do this? Any help would really be appreciated

First welcome to the forum Pepper and Evy ! I have never heard of this behaviour, but i am sure someone else maybe a breeder on the forum can help you out. Do you keep Pepper in the same cage of you're cockatiels ? Maybe you would be better off seperating her from them because if could cause some stress on the cockatiels? Hopefully someone else on the forum can give you some advice for her behaviour !

No Pepper is not even kept in the same room, she is kept in our room and the cockatiels are in their own room and we just moved the budgie in with them as she just lost her sister. We were thinking maybe its Pepper's time to breed and that she thinks the box should be hers and is taking it over, today she tried to pull out the bedding, I use paper towel and toilet paper for bedding. I stopped her and took her back to her room for the rest of the day.

Maybe, i think you should keep them seperate, if im correct the cockatiels have eggs in the nest ? Pepper might think that they are her babies and that she needs to protect them...
